Amulet Bags
The idea for creating amulet bags had been gradually developing in my mind and heart for many years. I wanted to combine my love of fiber and needle arts with my love of beads. It all began to click into place when I purchased some colorful, textured yarn and started playing with it on a long plane ride to the Big Island of Hawaii. Inspired by the vibrant, tropical colors of the islands, I came home excited and ready to manifest my ideas.

The black velvet-lined, crocheted bag is adorned with a polymer clay face cabochon embellished with glass seed beads. The fringe has been created with assorted glass and stone beads in various shapes. For the neckstrap, textured yarn and seed beads have been braided using the ancient Japanese cord making art of kumihimo. A single Czech crystal bead and loop of seed beads have been added to form a closure for the top of the bag.
